Latest technology in automated shell building systems

It is common practice to dry shells in a large open room via conveyor system. Even with temperature and humidity controls in place, it is extremely difficult to regulate such a large area. With an inconsistent environment, the molds tend to dry at different rates and degrees depending upon where they are placed in the room. If the molds are not sufficiently dry when they are poured, surface imperfections may develop or the metal may simply run out at a weak point in the mold.

Our new shell system consists of a six axis computer controlled electric robot, which removes all human error. The system monitors everything from the rainfall sand system, ceramic coatings to the temperature and dry times. Our system consists of four main parts the ceramic coating, rainfall sand system, dryer and finally the six axis robotics system which are explained a little further below:

• The rainfall sand system ensures that each pattern receives equal distribution for an even sound shell.
• The six axis robotics system ensures that each wax pattern evenly distributes slurry by correct use of gravitational pull ensuring that even the smallest crevices receive slurry.
• The robotics also ensures that each wax pattern receives exactly the right amount of ceramic so as to not create globs and deformities when being poured.
• Within the compact self contained drying tower temperature, humidity and airflow are tightly monitored and controlled by the computer to insure proper drying.
